Fuengirola International Culture Fair. May.Unique Festival

This festival has been declared to be of Tourist Interest by the Provincial Council of Málaga.

Please check with the local Town Hall or Municipal Tourism Office for the festival date before planning any sightseeing activities.

The municipality of Fuengirola is graced by its most famous monument, the Castle of Sohail, a Moorish fortress that was built in the time of Abd al-Rahman III.

This coastal city is among the most touristic destinations in the Costa del Sol, along with Torremolinos and Marbella. However, at the same time, it is a quiet, cosmopolitan city ideal for strolling along its promenade next to the Mediterranean Sea, bathing in its warm beaches and visiting its acclaimed beach restaurants. In addition to its traditional tourist offer of sun and beach, Fuengirola has other attractions such as its marina or zoo. The latter brings into Málaga exotic ecosystems from faraway places like Madagascar, Equatorial Africa and Southeast Asia. As for its excellent cuisine, the main element is the well-known pescaíto (“fish” in Spanish), given its fishing past. Nowadays, Fuengirola has a cultural mix worthy of the big cities, which makes it a melting pot for citizens from all over the world. This cultural mix calls for the celebration of the International Culture Fair.

During these first days in May, it is possible to stroll around the fairground and have sushi in Japan, lunch in Poland, tea in Morocco, a snack in Bulgaria, a mojito in Cuba, dinner in Argentina, or experience a Carnival night in Brazil. The fair provides a unique opportunity to get to know customs, folklore, gastronomy and art from around the world. Exotic foods and aroma mixtures blend with the music sound in the background showing the cultural roots of the about 30 different countries participating in the fair.

After a spectacular opening parade displaying colourful traditional costumes and thus, offering a visual show of immense beauty, the visitor will be able to choose from a wide range of events of no less allure and interest.
