Río Real Phoenician site

Archaelogical Sites > Deserted Medieval Settlement

This Phoenician site is close to the mouth of the Real River. Its archaeological excavation evidenced a Phoenician sequence that originated in the 7th century BCE and continued until the Punic period, between the 5th and 4th centuries BCE. Traces of metallurgical activities provide a link between the site’s function and the mining activities that were taking place at that time in the nearby town of Cerro Torrón.
