As the tower lies close to the small town Toscanos, it also bears this name.
It dates back to the 16th century and was built in a truncated cone shape, solid up to mid-section, with a 6.60-m base diameter and a 21.30-m circumference, reaching a total height of 8 m. Its low height seems to indicate that part of its base is underground.
Slightly damaged, it currently preserves the remains of its Mudejar stuccowork cladding, the access bay on the south face, the stairs and the flat roof or terrace. At the time it was built, the sea would have practically reached its foundations, but the Vélez river contributed to its recession.
