Overlooking the whole of Vêlez, it was built in the mid 17th century, though it subsequently underwent a number of significant overhauls. It houses a statue of the town’s patron saint. The intense devotion to the Virgen de los Remedios shown by the citizens of Vêlez at the beginning of the same century was capitalised on by Father Vedmar, who created the Nuestra Señora de los Remedios society in the mid 17th century.
