Roman Arches
A number of Roman aqueducts are to be found here, one of which stands in the town centre itself.
In the past, communications between Cártama and Alhaurîn el Grande were provided by a Roman road which linked the two towns. The remains of this road are still visible, along with those of the bridge and aqueduct. The bridge comprises a semicircular brick arch. Its stone block base is a little over two metres high. The aqueduct’s dimensions and structure suggest that its mission was to transport water to the town from a nearby source.
