Castle’s Walls

The walls of a castle of Phoenician origin which later fell into Roman hands before being occupied in 833 by the rebel leader Omar Ben Hafsun, who turned it into one of the most important fortresses in his kingdom. On its disappearance, it was replaced by the picturesque Barrio de la Rinconada del Castillo, of which the only remains are a wall standing within a private house, a passageway and the layout of the streets which now stand on the site of the original district.
