Church of San Sebastian

Cañamaque
Zip Code 29480
Monuments and Art > Hermitage and Chapel

The church is built within the town centre and dates back to the 16th century. It was later restored and both the belfry tower and the front have a Rennaissance feel to them.

The inside is divided up into three naves which are separated by square columns. The base of the presbytery, which was the chior before, has a quadrangular shape with a dome help up by pechinas. On the sides, and as part of the other naves, there are two chapels covered with arris vaults similar to a Baroque style. They have got different altars.

The altarpiece is outstanding and has three very different golden-lain wooden tires with lots of images. The sculpture of the Virgen de las Nieves is particularly outstanding.

The central nave is covered with a half-barrel vault with several window spaces.

On the outside, the front is made of brick and has a simple square two-tiered tower.
