Art Museum of Genalguacil
Genalguacil, located east of the province of Malaga about 45 kilometers from Ronda in the Genal Valley, is also known as the town museum. Its urban structure, inherited from Arab settlers, is unique, as it has been able to adapt the buildings and the streets to the steep terrain.
Since 1994, Genalguacil is the setting for a creative experience where art, life and nature come together in a participatory space for cooperation and coexistence. It is called Art Encounters Genal Valley.
The pieces placed permanently in squares and streets in the town are becoming a real open-air museum. And all thanks to the generosity of nearly hundred artists (such as painters, sculptors, photographers and potters) who have left their mark there.
The village has a Municipal Museum whose works belong to the participating artists in "Art Encounters" and reflect the environment of the Genal Valley, either through the use of indigenous materials and resources of the place, or the subject, reason or approaches developed.
