Church of Santo Domingo
The Church of Santo Domingo dates back to the 15th century. After the Christian conquest and outside the walls, it was part of the monastery complex which occupied most of a block located in the northern neighborhood of El Perchel.
This church is home to the Cofradîa de los Dolores del Puente, la Hermandad de la Humillacion y la Congregacion de Mena, which have an important presence in the Malaga Holy Week.
Its outer shape is somewhat peculiar because of the demolished part of the outbuildings, resulting in an irregular perimeter.
The church, from an architectural point of view, divided the interior space into three naves separated by arches on cruciform pillars with Corinthian pilasters, holding a double entablature, a frieze tour of decorated corbels composed of fallen leaves. The nave is covered with a barrel vault recessed arches divided by four and two perpendicular nerves that form a grid which fit in the central medallions and moldings cut crosslines lunettes on the sideline.
