Mina Conchita (Conchita mine)
The mine exploitation in the twenties has been associated with the Orueta family, who were mainly engineers originally from Málaga. The scheelite samples from this mine were world-famous and are on display in museums around the world, such as the Natural History Museum in London.
Mina Conchita is a precious site that exemplifies the valuable geological heritage of Sierra Bermeja while acknowledging the illustrious historical figures of Los Orueta. With their commitment, scientific passion and vocational altruism, they pushed Málaga and its mineral resources to the vanguard of future research and mining projects sponsored by the Spanish Mining and Geology Institute (IGME).
The mining sites that are no longer in operation do not meet the safety requirements for being visited.
