Sierra de Utrera massif

Despite being a relatively small terrain of karst towers, it presents archaeological evidence of a long-standing settlements such as a transitional lithic industry from the Acheulean to the Mousterian, and the oldest pottery samples ever found from the Andalusian Neolithic period.

Located between Manilva and Casares, this karstic massif displays formations reminiscent of those in El Torcal de Antequera. As far as wildlife is concerned, rock-dwelling species may be spotted here while the variety of bird species to be seen significantly increases by the Manilva River. Besides riverbank species such as kingfishers, wagtails, nightingales and mockingbirds, other birds associated with the forests can also be spotted here, including the great spotted woodpecker, the blue nuthatch, and the common chaffinch.
