The Aula Museum of Geology of Málaga “Minerales y Tesoros de la Tierra” (Minerals and Treasures of the Earth) is a unique project in Andalusia that concerns the geological and mining heritage of the province exclusively, after 150 years without a museum of geology in the city. Betting on the dissemination of matters related to the complex and valuable provincial mining geology, its historical implications in the industrial Málaga of the early nineteenth century and its scientific characters, as well as to claim the role of geologist and geology in our society.

It has an area of 170 m2 and five honorary classrooms teaching Earth Science that house 1500 specimens of minerals, fossils, rocks and gems all exclusively from Málaga without exception, with the following themes:
- Classroom 1. Domingo de Orueta Duarte: the exhibition includes the history of mining in Málaga, prehistoric and industrial times, metal collections, archaeometallurgy, industrial minerals and raw materials from Málaga, as well as polished and ornamental stones.
- Classroom 2. José MacPherson. Geology room: the exhibition includes collections of rocks, fossils and Málaga gems, and exhibit panels on the evolution of the soil and geology in the province.
- Classrooms 3 and 4. Domingo de Orueta Aguirre and Germán Barceló Sierra. Mineralogy rooms: the exhibition includes systematic collections of local minerals and exhibit panels on minerals, crystallography, natural routes and the mining heritage of Málaga.
- Classroom 5. Learning workshop on the identification of minerals and rocks for schoolchildren, as well as high school and science students

Visitors can find here exquisite collections of minerals (including Málaga azurites, Carratraca pyrites, the unique Antequera blue quartz, and more), fossils and representations (such as 200 million-year-old stromatolites from Málaga), and rock samples including peridotite rocks from Sierra Bermeja (Estepona), ofite rocks (Archidona) and nickel laterites from Mijas.

In addition to the guided tour around the museum, the Classroom-Museum of Geology offers an activity package that includes Sunday field trips, geological geotours, along with mineral and rock identification workshops for children and adults.
