Hermitage of the Virgen de las Angustias
One of the most unique building s that still exists in the town is the Ermita de la Virgen de las Angustias, which was first used for worship in the 19th century when the only existing decoration on the inside of the cave consisted in an image. When work began on the main road to Torre del Mar, the land it stood on had to be expropriated and the original cave was lost being substituted by a new chapel fully equipped for worship. Unfortunately it was seriously damaged in 1937 and the only thing that was saved was the new image that had been put in place to replace the original cave decorative image.
