Peñas de Cabrera (Cabrera’s Rocks)
This archaeological site presents numerous rocky shelters on sandstone with schematic cave art from late prehistoric times, where anthropomorphic shapes abound.
The picturesque spot known as Peñas Cabrera, situated on the Cerro Mojea, is very valuable from an archaeological point of view. This example of cave art/ paintings is near the Rio Guadalmedina, some four kilometres from the town centre. On the sandstone hillsides full of the typical low-level vegetation there are lots of indentations which have been formed by the erosive action of the wind over time and which contain a large diversity of drawings and pictures.
This area is managed by the Junta de Andalucía.
