Parajes de Pujerra

The village of Pujerra is in the Alto del Genal, and within the Serranîa de Ronda. As is the case with the neighbouring village of Igualeja, this village is completely surrounded by chestnut forest, which becomes pine at lower levels nearer the valley.

On the road that leads out of this village towards the neighbouring Júzcar, and surrounded by chestnut, holm oak and popular trees, is a beauty spot known as “El Molino del Puente. There, right next to the ruins of the old mill, visitors can enjoy one of the views most loved by the locals from Pujerra; the Genal river, which as well as providing wonderful views, also has many places where people can take a quick dip during the holiday season. The combination of the summer heat and some shade provided by the trees makes the river and its banks a holiday favourite with many.

There is also another road that can be taken that connects Pujerra and Jubrique. These 14 kilometres can be walked or completed on bike or by car. It starts off surrounded by chestnut trees and the final part is lined by pine trees which have been planted over the recent years.Their elegant and slender presence and strong smell gives the area a special beauty all to itself. These pine tres can be seen from afar as they stand above the low lying vegetation along the way. They can also be viewed from the road that rises from San Pedro and especially so from the higher part of the Guadalmina River’s valley, near a road workers’ lodging house.
