The Mezquitilla beach, in Algarrobo lies 38km outside of the province's capital. Together the beaches of Algarrobo and Mezquitilla form the Algarrobo coastline.

Made up of pebbles, this beach is 650m long, has an average width of 20m, and usually has moderate waves.

Located in a semi-urban area without a seafront promenade, in high season parasol and sun bed hire services are available.

The Algarrobo coastline is a town in its namesake municipality, Algarrobo, an area which has recently been developed due to the growth of tourism in the area. It is in this area that the three main festivals can be enjoyed: Algarrobo rock, undeniably the best event on the seafront promenade for rock music lovers, Oktoberfest, where beer takes a starring role, or the Noche de San Juan, where one can enjoy some tasty sardines whilst listening to music.

Its name refers to the area it belongs to, the municipalities of Vélez-Málaga and Algarrobo, both of which are situated in the Málaga province. Mezquitilla is a small village of fishermen and farmers which has been growing in importance due to tourism throughout the current century.

HOW TO GET THERE

From Algarrobo there is easy access by car on the A-7206 motorway.

From Málaga centre, take the A-7 motorway, or the motorway known as 'Ronda Este', MA-24, and A-7 to get to the beach.

From the city centre it is also possible to get to the beach via public transport, take either the Málaga-Torrox or Málaga-Nerja intercity bus from the Puerto Málaga bus station and they will drop you in Mezquitilla, around an 8 minute walk from the beach.
