Playa de las Cañas, found in Marbella, it is one of the area’s most beautiful beaches. Family friendly and with dark sand, it stretches across a kilometre of coastline and is about 10 metres wide. Very close to the beach is Cabopino Marina.
Another of Playa de las Cañas’ great attractions is an old lookout tower called Torre de Lance de las Cañas, one of the many defensive structures that protected the coasts of Andalusia from invasions by sea. The tower, built in the days of Carlos III, is named after a nearby stream. Declared a Site of Cultural Interest, the tower is very well preserved. The image of the tower is a distinctive feature of the beach, its whimsical silhouette beside the shore reminiscent of the classic sand castles we all built as children.
