Arroyo Hondo Beach is in the town of Benalmádena, approximately 20 kilometres to the southeast of the Malaga, between La Viborilla and Torremuelle beaches.

It gets its name from the river of the same name, which after crossing through the town, flows into the sea at the beach. 400 metres long and 20 metres wide, Arroyo Hondo beach is known for its coarse dark sand. It is also surrounded by dense vegetation, in contrast to the significant level of building that has taken place in recent years in nearby zones.

The beach includes an area popularly known as the “pretty beach”, with clear blue water and a calm sea, perfect for a swim. The beach tends to be busy, given the huge volume of visitors in the summer to the nearby Hotel Costa Azul.
