Pedregalejo - Las Acacias
Playa de Pedregalejo- Las Acacias, in Malaga, is found between the Baños del Carmen and playa de El Palo. This beach has been awarded the Blue Flag 2021.
With its dark sand, it spans 1,200 metres in length and 20 metres in width, and is protected by stone breakwaters that make six small coves.
Curiously at this beach there is a known phenomenon among Malaga locals recognised as “The Melillero Wave”. The approach and braking from the ferry from Melilla to its arrival at the Puerto de Malaga causes a brief and sudden rise in sea level, so you must be careful with your towel and personal items if you are near the shore.
Around this beach there are many bars to enjoy Malaga’s gastronomic specialties, such as typical fried fish and grilled sardines.
Based here are La Barcaza Sports Club and the Asociación de Remo y Pala (Rowing and Paddling association) of Pedregalejo, who participate in the league seines. In high season we can rent on this beach water sports equipment such as pedal boats.
Although for a long time it was thought that the name Pedregalejo came from pedregal down to the Baños del Carmen, it was found that the nomenclature of the neighbourhood that leads to this beach is much older. Playa de Pedregalejo is already registered on an eighteenth century map as such.
