Once you have crossed the City of Málaga from the church of St James the Great or St Jacob (‘Santiago’ in Spanish), you will reach residential area Puerto Sol, in Puerto de la Torre district, in the north of the town. Then you should go through a tunnel under the A-7 motorway in order to get to Cupiana Way. Having walked under St Cayetano Arch, you will arrive in a neighbourhood ‘Junta de los Caminos’ (Roads Junction) along the A-7075 (kilometric point 2.6). At the exit, you will move along the riverside of Piedra Horadada Stream and reach a bridge over the Campanillas River. One kilometre further on (less than a mile), after a left turning into a steep path at the level of Los Núñez, the urban landscape slowly changes into a forest with scattered residential areas. There are species which are typical for Mediterranean mountains as well as traces of woody plants like almond, carob, wild-olive and olive trees.
After some junctions and crossings, you will reach Los Suizos (kilometric point 7.9), and after a steep downward way and Olivos Stream ford, you will walk up a steep path that leads to Corbite Way (kilometric point 9.5), which is also a name of a natural beauty spot that surrounds it. This is the highest point of the trail, which is ideal for bird-watching. The ground is made of brown phyllite and metasandstone of tectonic structure called ‘Complejo Malaguide’ [Malaguide Coplex] with shallow rocky surface, which is why farming was limited to small plots of dry land.
Having reached another peak, you will go along Buenavista Way for 1.6 km (0.99 mi). Then turn right into a downward path which goes to an asphalt road that leads to Almogía. Go across the road carefully and you will get to the higher area of the village to Albergue de Peregrinos, a hostel.
