Fuente de Piedra (Fountain of Stone) is a typical Andalusian village on the plain of the region of Antequera, Malaga province.

This town stands out for its natural setting, strong traditions and the lagoon that bears its name, listed as a nature reserve.

MONUMENTS

Fuente de la Piedra which gives name to this town, dating from the XVIII century, and was built on an earlier fountain built by the Romans. The initial source was known by the name of Fons Divinus referring to its healing waters.

Another must-see sites is the parish church of Our Lady of Virtues of Moorish style with Gothic touch. Originally in the XIX century, this temple was attached to the municipality of Mollina where the offering was given to Our Lady of Mercy chapel.

The structure of this town is a claim in itself, because in its straight streets, one can find houses on two levels with lintels door and wrought iron balconies. Particularly, it is noteworthy, the neoclassical palace of the Marquesa de Fuente de Piedra of the XIX century , the summer residence of the Condes del Castillejo del Tajo, and the parish of the Duke of Mandos.

For all the travellers who are fan of oenology, the famous wineries of Malaga Virgen (an extraordinary sweet wine) are a must, because in its 250 hectares of area, four varieties of grapes are grown. Facilities at this vineyard are in the estate of Vistahermosa, founded in 1885.
