Balcón de Europa (Europe Vantage Point) was built in the 17th century on an old fortress from the 9th century that used to be called 'The Tower of the Guard'.

Nowadays, this is an extraordinary viewpoint that offers marvellous panoramic view over the sea, cliffs and the Mediterranean coast. It is in the south of the small town of Nerja, in front of the beaches Salón and Calahonda and it can be approached from the tree-lined avenue Paseo del Balcón de Europa.

On Paseo Balcón de Europa avenue, there are bars, cafés, restaurants, ice-cream parlours, hotels, and you can have a ride in a horse carriage round the Old Town of Nerja.
