Restaurant Casa Grande El Burgo (Distinguished Establishments)
UNIQUENESS
This lordly house, built more than 150 years ago, was completely restored and refurbished in 1999. The typical details of its construction from that period were conserved, above all the wooden ceiling and the terracotta floor.
CHARACTERISTICS
They offer a big range of traditional dishes which are typical for the Sierra de las Nieves. These are made of local products, and are based on the original country food from the mountains as they include: pork cold meat, goat meat, lamb, rabbit, traditional soups, cold tomato soup called ‘gazpacho’, scrambled eggs with asparagus and field thistle mushrooms, and other seasonal food available in the surroundings. Additionally, the hotel supplies with delicious home-made desserts, such as rice pudding, custard, sweet cubes made of milk and flour fried in batter, quince jelly with white cheese, as well as popular traditional sweetsmade by olive oil, honey, juice, etc., like incredibly tasty roscos tontos(ring-shaped bread rolls), sponge cake, mantecados, honey-dipped fritter, ‘Roman bread’, etc.
LOCATION
The hotel is in the centre of the village El Burgo, and it is clearly signposted and indicated at the entrance of the village.
El Burgo is in the heart of the Sierra de las Nieves, one hour away from Málaga and Marbella, and some 20 minutes away from Ronda.
