Ideally situated between important villages of Malaga’s interior tourist offer such as Carratraca, Casarabonela, Álora and Pizarra, nestling on a tranquil plain by the banks of the Cañas stream, you will find this ancient post-horses inn, dated of the 18th century, although it suffered significant reforms during the 19th century.

After going through a thorough rehabilitation, paying special attention to maintaining this building’s historic and architectonic character, it was inaugurated as restaurant in December 2001. The interior aesthetics, beautifully preserved, offers the visitors the possibility of re-creating the feeling of the rural environment of an ancient stagecoach inn in the route, which ran along Málaga-Ronda-Seville.

The layout is that of a typical Andalusian farm, featuring whitewashed walls, with tiles on the exterior, wood and the traditional interior big patio with over 300 m². In this case, celebrations for more than 300 people can be held in the open air. One of the outstanding features of this restaurant is an old stone tube with its own water, which fills the place with a peaceful and tranquil atmosphere.

Once inside you find the dining room occupying the place of the former stables, with a capacity for 200 people. The roof, made of wooden beams resting on white stone arches, is another architectural showpiece. The old kitchen, featuring wooden ceilings, is now transformed into a private room with capacity for 28 people, and where you will be able to admire the ancient furnace of the house.

This place with fascinating corners, with agrarian details and elements distributed in all its rooms, will truly lead you to make contact with another world. The biggest room is silently presided by an enormous fireplace and contiguous to it you will find the winery, carefully protected by a grated door, authentic piece of hand-forged ironwork, imposing its noble style on the entire room. The traditional main fireplace is still maintained, and the visitors will be able to have a nice rest and dream of the early days confronted with this impressive structure formed by the former coal furnace, construction seats, small stone benches, earthenware jugs and ancient cooking elements.

The warm hospitality and the friendly personalized service go hand in hand with the gastronomic offer. It is based on an autochthonous gastronomy featuring traditional dishes elaborated with local products as was done in the past. As we go through the menu, we find a good selection of entrées such as “berenjenas con miel” (eggplant with honey), “ensaladas de naranja y bacalao” (orange and cod fish salads) or “ensalada de escarola con queso tierno” (endive and cheese salad). As first dish, and according to the season, you will be able to taste some delicious “migas” (fried bread crumbs with bacon), “callos” (tripe), “sopa viña-ave” (soup made from potatoes, peas, monk-fish, shrimps and Viña Ave wine), “gazpachuelo” (hot egg soup seasoned with vinegar or lemon), “ajoblanco” (cold almond and garlic soup), or the famous “porra antequerana” (thick chilled soup made from bread, cured ham, hard boiled eggs, tuna, tomatoes, oil and salt) among others. As second dish, you will find the “paletillas” (shoulder blade), “rabo de toro” (oxtail) or the “bacalao al pil-pil” (cod fish). Finally we get to the desserts where you will be able to savor a “semifrio de hierbabuena” (mint), a delicious “pudding de San Antonio” or “pudding the chocolate blanco” (white chocolate pudding). And of course, delicious food calls for fine wine selected from their exclusive winery.
