The Museum of the Monfí
The purpose of this initiative is to make known a culture that prevailed for six centuries and was the origin of almost all the white villages of the Axarquia.
This museum has an audio system that, through an interactive book, allowing visitors to interact and be part of the presentation of the municipality and the monfîes culture, dating back to the sixteenth century, the life of the ancient inhabitants of these lands, their customs, and culture. This audio describes how an important part of the Moorish population of Cútar took up arms against segregation and injustice (in many cases for breach of the agreement at the Capitulaciones) in late 1568 and 1569, along with people from Benamargosa, Competa, Daimalos, Sedella and other towns, which ended with the tragic events of the Rock of Frigiliana. As a result of expulsion of the Moorish of the villa on March 16, 1570, conducted by Don Antonio de la Luna, Cútar being practically deserted.
The museum has an exhibition structured around three main areas, each with a central theme: the figure of monfî and importance of the Andalusian legacy in our history.
