Algarrobo beach, in Algarrobo, is 38km outside the centre of the province’s capital and is situated between Puerto de la Caleta de Vélez and La Mezquitilla beach.
Made up of pebbles and dark sand, the beach is 800 metres long, has an average width of 20 metres and normally has moderate waves. It has been awarded Blue Flag 2021 status, one of the most important recognitions that a beach can receive.
Various urbanisations, restaurants and beach bars have been built along its perimeter which those in search of good food and refreshments can go to in an attempt to cope with the summer heat. In the summer months sun bed and parasol hire is available.
The Algarrobo coastline is part of its namesake municipality, Algarrobo which has recently enjoyed lots of development as a result of increased tourism to the area.
