Walking for Pizarra

In order to visit Pizarra, the best place to start is at the Casa de la Cultura (The Municipal Arts Centre). On leaving the Casa de la Cultura the next stop is a stroll through the park that has the name of the most loved people in the village; D. Fernando Vergara. He was the train station manager for many years.

Another must stop is at the Iglesia de San Pedro Apóstol and from there a right turn will take visitors to the Palacio del Conde de Puerto Hermoso. A little further up the road is the Town hall building and the square it is in is as old as the village itself. Just in front of the square is the Calle Alta, which is where the convent is which is known as Casa de la Compañîa de Hermanas de la Cruz de Sevilla, inaugurated in 1955.

A little further still up the road is the Ermita de Ntra. Sra. de la Fuensanta. This was built around a statue of the Santa Marîa de la Concepción and on the site of the ancient Mozarabic church from the Xth century. It was declared as a monument of Historic and Artistic Interest in 1983 for the reason. The next place to visit is the ICONA park that is reached by crossing the village down Barrio Alto and from there a little further along Calle Francisco Rosas is another park named Parque Doctor Josê González Espino.

Outside the village along the C-337 road towards Málaga lies the Cortijo Casablanca which is where the Municipal Museum of Pizarra is situated.
