The villages in the Sierra de las Nieves have been chosen by men as the best places for living.

These were strategic places, which used to be easy to protect and had access to streams, rivers and fertile fields. The nearby water sources, which emerge in contact with limestone or other clay-like terrains, are used for drinking and watering irrigated crops, a very productive kind of crops which is cultivated on terraced land due to the steep terrain.

Here we can observe two streams: the Hondo (Deep) and the Seco (Dry).
