San Andrés Beach, in the city of Málaga, the capital of the Costa del Sol, is located on the western coast between the Port of Málaga and La Misericordia Beach. The estuary of the Guadalhorce River is located nearby.

There are several spots for the little ones, and this beach is also one of the recommended places for windsurfing and sailing thanks to its ideal waves. This beach has been awarded the Blue Flag 2021.

Stretching out over a length of 600 metres, many people come to this beach because of its location and easy access via the Antonio Machado seafront promenade – a walkway that runs through this area offering a wide variety of cuisine and leisure activities.

These beaches were used as places of execution during Ferdinand VII of Spain’s period of absolutism; General José María Torrijos y Uriarte was shot here, along with other men of his same ideology.

This moment was immortalised in a painting now held at the Museo del Prado (Madrid), although the shooting actually took place in the area close to Bulto.

Also, it appears as though this beach was named after an old chapel constructed by the same fishermen who used to fish in this area; the chapel was built in honour of Saint Andrew (San Andrés), their patron saint and protector.
