Beaches

Playa del Molino de Papel, or Papel Mill beach is located in Maro, a town of Nerja. Both the “Rio de Miel” or honey river and “Arroyo Colmenares” or beehive stream flow into the sea near this beach.

Like other beaches of Nerja it is surrounded by cliffs and is an unspoiled natural environment, located in a virtually untouched area.

This is a beach with rounded rocks, gravel and dark sand, but also with crystalline waters that make it possible to explore its great diversity of marine fauna.

There are no catering services here, so you should bring your own provisions if you come to spend the day and not forget your sun parasol.

Its name comes from the ruins of what at one time was a paper mill popularly known as “El Molino de Papel”. A special place with an intriguing historic past.

Near this Paper Mill beach is “Río de Miel” or Honey River, on which an aristocrat built his paper mill that was an important factor in the economic development of the area. This paper mill was in operation until the mid-nineteenth century.
