Near the Natural Monument of Los Tajos del Alcázar, the ruins of an ancient Moorish fortress that give name to the area [alcázar being the Spanish name for this type of fortifications] is preserved.

Amidst the Natural Park of Sierra de Tejeda, Almijara and Alhama, in the municipality of Alcaucín, by the banks of the river of the same name, in the heart of the Axarquía, there is a recreational area with diverse facilities to enjoy. Small waterfalls and abundant vegetation add an extra appeal to this beautiful place, an essential stopping point in some of the routes which head towards the Pico de la Maroma, the highest peak in the Axarquía (2,068m).

If we get closer to the overlook by the road we can see a spectacular gorge below, before the river flows into the swamp of La Viñuela.

Located within the Natural Park of Sierra deTejeda , Almijara and Alhama in the municipality of Alcaucín , this area has multiple recreational uses (for meals , camping , games), providing a number of facilities (showers, tables , stoves, areas games , etc.) that are in poor conditions because of the use and age.

This place is required in some of the rambling routes that go to the peak of La Maroma , the highest in the Axarquia with 2,068 metres step, with excellent facilities to spend a picnic.

It is a recreational area , located on the bank of river Alcaucín . Small cataracts forming in the first meters of the bed of the stream and the thick vegetation surrounding it are some of the natural attractions of this charming corner.

Striking is the impressive gorge which opens this stream feet below, before taking its waters into nearby Lake Vinuela. The best way to enjoy this natural canyon is close to the roadside lookout enabled .

From there, beautiful forms can be seen that created more erosion on both rocky areas of the riverbed and the surrounding mountain areas
