Costa del Sol Occidental

Diputación de Málaga
Cabecera-Costa-del-Sol-Occidental

The Western Costa del Sol is one of the first destinations of peninsular Spain. The Mediterranean climate with its mild and warm temperatures provides this region more than 300 sunny days.

The adaption of the sea breeze and the protection by the mountain ranges near the coast benefit this kind climate.

It begins in Torremolinos, and after it there are Benalmádena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Marbella, Estepona y Manilva. In few words: this is the authentic cradle of the Andalusian and national tourism and expresses our value in the international context. The first-rate quality of its beaches, restaurants, hotels golf courses, complementary services, etc. is international accepted.

Inside these lands, we will see villages which lay over the mountain range: Benahavis and Casares. These two municipalities combine the pure style of the white villages with the surrounding landscape. Spectacular panoramic views, balconies over the Mediterranean Sea from Benalmadena to Mijas, the cosmopolitan and bustling atmosphere from Torremolinos to Sabinillas and the country road N-340, considered one of the longest roads of the world, characterize this region as well as Marbella, town which, over hillocks and valleys, carpets of golf, and houses and gardens full of legends, gets deep into the foot of the mountains. This is the world of meadows and fields of Estepona, Casares and Manilva, as well as small fishing harbours that remain on the coast, which shelters the oldest neighbourhoods of the seaside villages. These villages are in many ways the origin of this beautiful province, where festivities are an important part of social life.
