Stroll through labyrinthine streets and whitewashed houses, two natural parks enjoy unparalleled ecological value or do canoeing on the river Guadiaro, they are just some of the attractions that make you fall in love with Jimera of Líbar. The narrow, winding street circuit has clear Moorish influences that will take you to the time of Al-Andalus. The town is divided into two distinct nuclei: the town, which is perched on the hillside, and the neighbourhood of the station, on the banks of the river Guadiaro, station that was built in the XIX century by a British company.
It also worth mentioning the hospitable nature of the residents of this town in the Serrania de Ronda, which has a long tradition as a destination for active tourism. When preparing your trip to Jimera of Líbar, you will find a large number of villas, hotels and campsites that cater to your needs.
The fields Jimera de Líbar are clear evidence of the history of these lands. At about 4 kilometres from the town, Finca del Tesoro is located, a Phoenician site of the VII or VI A.C centuries. In it they found several pieces of pottery and jewellery belonging to a funeral trousseau.
From the Roman era, there are the remains of the bridge next to Molino La Floor. This former watermill has been recently restored and converted into tourist accommodation, and its natural environment is exceptional.
In urban core, one of the first monuments that you will find is the parish church. It is dedicated to Our Lady of Health, patron saint of the town, and has an image of the Virgen Del Rosario. You'll also find references to the patron saint of the town in the ruins of the chapel that bears its name, the shrine of the Virgin of Health. The temple is situated on the banks of the river Guadiaro and is the place where, according to legend, the image of the patron appeared. Between May and August, the image of the Virgin can be visited in a chapel in the area of the station.
Other places you cannot miss in Jimera of Líbar are the panoramic views of the valley of Guadiaro from the Cross of Ventura, Public Source, 1789 and the old Public Utility Room, situated next to it, and the railway station, built by British company The Algeciras-Gibraltar Railway in 1892.
