Urban Viewpoint of the Tajo de la Encantada Waterfall and the Hydroelectric Power Station
Come to see a stunning view over El Chorro Hydroelectric Power Station and the Tajo de la Encantada Waterfall. The hydroelectric power station was built after it had been decided to use a waterfall on the Guadalhorce River for generating power. The power station was started to be built in 1903, during the first stage of electric power transmission in Spain, and it was over in 1905. In order to take advantage of the remaining power, a calcium carbide production plant was planned to be built with 1300 HP, although the entire power production had already been sold to a British and German company that used to distribute energy to the Town of Málaga.
