Mijas Golf Club
Located in Mijas Pueblo, this club offers two golf courses, Los Lagos and Los Olivos.
Los Lagos was the first course, built under the direction of Mateo Pêrez Robles, 18 holes, par 72, and 6.367 meters long. It is distinguished by its wide streets lined with numerous lakes, hence the name (in fact, water can be found in 9 of the 18 holes). It also offers numerous bunkers and many fairways strategically placed to protect their broad and flat greens.
Los Olivos was originally built between 1983 and 1984, but was completely renovated between 2000 and 2001, with 18 holes, par 71 and 5.840 meters long.
This course is smaller than Los Lagos, and with different characteristics: smaller greens, fall very well protected by bunkers, and many olive trees strategically placed around the streets demanding the player a drive more accurate and straight.
Both courses honor the philosophy of its designer, Robert Trent Jones, who defined it as "hard par, easy bogey", with tours with very little "rough", plenty of water and relatively flat.
