The Mozarabe city of Bobastro is of Medieval origin, dating back to the 9th and 10th centuries. One of the most outstanding buildings in the city is the church carved out of the rocks, with its Basilica floor plan, three naves and horseshoe arches. It is totally carved out of the rocky mountain and it is connected to a convent-type hermitage that was built around 917 after Christ.
