The Flag

The flag representing the Province of Málaga flies proudly on the façade of the Council headquarters, alongside the flags of Spain and Andalucía. Its current design was adopted relatively recently (in 1978), when Joaquín Jiménez Hidalgo was Council President.

Jiménez Hidalgo turned to the flag of the Maritime District of Málaga for inspiration, adding the province’s coat of arms to the central part of the flag.

The flag has a white background, the coat of arms in the centre and a sky blue frame whose width is approximately one fifth of the flag’s length.
