Grape Juice Museum

Cartes et plans

The production of grapes to make wine has been presented in the life of the inhabitants of this area. This is shown in its landscape, historical texts and even in the remains exiting in all the territory (old wineries and wine-presses).
The grape crops suffered the phylloxera, this epidemic not only in Europe but also in America reduced drastically the grape production in the whole word. However, the most resistant grapevines were protected by rises and hills and that allowed maintaining part of the crops and the grape juice production.

We can find in the opened Grape Juice Museum several artistic representations that remain the visitor the different stages of the wine juice production.

You can also find sculptures in small corners and small and narrow streets of the town close to the local houses and other interesting points of Atajate. We recommend you to visit the different rooms of the museum, the welcome, the grape harvest, the winery especially during the festivities of the Grape juice (last Saturday of November). Apart from that a small path known as “Pasaje del Mosto” of 900 metres will lead us to know the place Los Tajos de Atajate.
