This festival has been declared to be of Tourist Interest by the Provincial Council of Málaga.

Villanueva del Trabuco covers the easternmost part of the Antequera region, bordering the province of Granada and the Axarquía region. It lies at the foot of the gentle Gorda and San Jorge mountain ranges, where the highest peaks of the municipality stand.

The streams flowing down from these mountains make up the Guadalhorce River—its source is thought by many to be at the Fuente de los Caños. Various streams are emerging from the abundant natural springs at the bottom of the mountain ranges, which rarely run out of water even in summer. The subsoil in this municipality is very rich in water, allowing plenty of black poplars, poplars and ash trees to grow alongside streams.

Villanueva del Trabuco is a place of great natural beauty and has many tourist possibilities for its visitors, like the "Trabuco Special" spectacular parade.

As part of the festivities in honour of the patron saint, this celebration is very well attended by locals and visitors in disguise.

Group costumes are customary, with all members characterized as the same character. However, the event covers all categories: individual, couples, groups, families, and many others.

The wide variety of costumes is so that imagination plays an essential role in the making of the garment that may qualify for the prizes awarded to the best one. Joyful music from comparsas and charangas accompanies the participating groups all the way to the parade's destination. Once they arrive at the Plaza del Prado square, an orchestra will brighten up the evening until the early hours of the morning
