Monuments and Art > Convent

Founded by the Catholic Monarchs in the XV century, it was subsequently converted into the Convento de Observantes, which stood at the centre of what was the centre of Vêlez-Málaga’s Jewish quarter. The convent’s cloister features Mudêjar arches on the lower floor and Roman arches on the upper level. Worthy of note are the exterior porch-cum-niche, the Capilla del Buen Pastor with its floral plasterwork and the choir, redesigned by the architect Martîn de Aldehuela.
