Torre del Mar castle
The Castle of Torre del Mar is known as Castillo del Marquês. It represents the model of the typical fortress of the eighteenth century, type "defensive front." Its walls are made of masonry and ashlar. Inside the units are arranged around a rectangular courtyard, with a ladder to climb to the bastion and a ramp to down to the guns.
It stands in the Plaza de la Axarquîa, of which only part of the old town walls remain, some sections of the original structure intermingling with the houses that were built adjacent to it in the 19th and 20th centuries.
