Roman Thermal baths of Santa María

This Bath Complex, located at the feet of Santa Marîa la Mayor, was discovered by chance in the summer of 1988. It dates back to approximately the 1st century.

This robust structure consists of large stone blocks and basins covered with hydraulic mortar. The exterior is covered in marble.

Also discovered here was a large, polychrome mosaic whose central medallion represents a sea god and may date back as far as the 3rd century.

The importance of these remains lies in the fact that they confirm the existence of the urban settlement of Antikaria, hitherto only known about through written sources.
