This was a Alquerîa-Nazari watchtower which was built to warn the locals of the presence of enemies as well as serve as a refuge for the population. It has a square shape and is finished off at the top by a rampart, which was added to it by the Christians in 1493. This tower, along with the “Ortegicar” in Cañete la Real, are the only examples of this kind of architecture in the province of Malaga.
