The Alfarnate Inn.
Alfarnate Inn is just two kilometres from the village centre. Thought to have been built in 1690, some researchers believe it to be responsible for the appearance of the village itself, since it was on the way for travellers journeying inland from the coast and provided fresh horses in exchange for tired ones. Guests who have stayed at the inn include King Alfonso XIII, Josê Marîa "El Tempranillo" and Luis Candelas, who legend has it robbed a royal dispatch rider here, a crime for which he was subsequently arrested and imprisoned in the inn itself.
