Arabic Minaret of Corumbela
Corumbela, which is a small hamlet perched high up above on the rocky face, is located a few kilometres Hawai from Sayalonga. In its small and lone square sits the church dedicated to San Peter. It is built on the site of the old mosque, of which the only thing remaining is the minaret which is now transformed into a Christian belfry. It was built in true Mudejar style in the 12th century. It is a small building, however, it is not lacking in beauty of simplicity. It is made mainly out of large, thick flat stones that are interfilled with bricks.
