Located in the beautiful and very popular neighbourhood known as Padre Jesús, this church was built in the 16th century.

The building has a rectangular floor plan with three naves which are separarted by half-rounded arches supported on columns with terraced pilasters. There is a lot of architectural influence from the Renaissance, but the facade is true to pure Gothic style.

The central nave has a Mudejar style wooden frameworked-ceiling with intricate buttterfly carvings (a part of this is also left in the cloister). The choir is laid on a flat wooden platform and is covered by a hemispherical vault as is the presbretry. There is a small, but intricately carved Baroque style chapel at the foot of the Gospel nave.

This church is home to one of the most venerated images in the whole of the Ronda region, and one of the most popular images that is paraded through the streets on the Thursday of Easter week. It is an image named, “Padre Jesús Nazareno”.

Many famous people have been baptised here including Vicente Espinel.
