The date of construction of this church is unknown. Some historians say it is from the 16th century, while others opt for a later date around the 17th century. What is known is that the building has undergone a constant process of restoration and expansion up until the last one which was in 1970.

The construction has a rectangular floor plan, which was extended in the 18th century when the Torre Portico was added at the foot of the Basilica.The head of the transept dates back to the 19th century. Inside there is an assortment of polychrome wooden sculptures from the 18th century, of which the most worthy of mention are the images of San Francisco de Asîs, the Virgen de la Candelaria and a Nazareno. This church is an example of the healthy economic situation that the village went through in the 18th century.
