This church is situated on the outskirts of the village and was built between 1544 and 1620. It is a Mozarabic style edifice carved out of the rock, of which the most outstanding element is the faèade. So much so, that it is considered to be one of the most unique fronts of its kind in all of Andalusia. It is only open during the month of May.

THE LEGEND: Tradition has it that in 1487 the Virgen de la Fuensanta appeared to a shepherd on the spot where the hermitage was built, with the concerted effort of all the local inhabitants, in her honour. Work began in 1544 and was not completed until 1680,although part of the nave was ready in 1620. The Image of the Virgin dates from the 15th century and is 11 centimetres high and is said to have been brought to the hermitage by a knight who was involved in the conquest of Coin. Each year on the first Sunday of the month of June all the local residents take part in a “romeria” (pilgrimage) to the spot.
