Built in the 16th century on the site of an old mosque that disappeared during the Reconquest of Spain, it was rebuilt in the 19th century. Diego de Vegara, the architect of the bishop of Malaga, was the person chosen to be in charge of the construction in 1522. The most outstanding part of the building on the exterior is the belfry, while on the inside the wooden framework of the central nave is equally outstanding..

The central nave has a extremely valuable and artistically beautiful Mudejar coffered ceiling. On the inside, three images from the 18th century are also worthy of special mention, the Inmaculada, the Niño Jesus, and a painting of San Pablo Ermitaño.
