Cacti and other Succulent Plants Botanical Garden
The Cactus Botanical Garden Mora i Bravard is located in Casarabonela, a white town at the foot of the Sierra de las Nieves, where visitors can find one of the best collections of cacti and succulents in Europe , with a range of over 2500 species, belonging to different plant families. In a small space, visitors can take a tour of different continents and countries, and acquire a broad view of the captivating and fascinating world of succulent plants.
Currently managed by the City of Casarabonela, the Garden has its origin in the large collection of succulents formed and cared for over many years by the marriage of Edwige Bravard and Joan Gabriel Mora. Its founders developed the hobby and passion for these plants on the island of Mallorca, until 1995, when looking for a suitable climate, moved to Andalusia and established his collection in the current location of the Garden.
Although the Garden is located relatively far from the coast, at an altitude of 380 meters above sea level, the slopes of Sierra Prieta, which open to the southeast, offer microclimatic conditions that are needed to house the collection of cacti and other succulents exhibit in it. In general characterization Mediterranean climate offers subtropical tendencies in its various forms and degree of aridity, being typical of the various natural habitats where they thrive most succulents.
